Hey Jay,
Congrats on finishing. And your first race ever? That's impressive! And yeah, the 499 is a total guess. I do think there was somewhere between 400 and 500 at the event. I could be completely wrong though. I'm shooting for sub seven next year too. I'll see you there.

Hi Andrew. I enjoyed your post. I did the Rattler too. My first mountain bike race ever. After lap three I must have been about 20 min ahead of you because I made the cutoff by 17 min and was able to keep going...or HAD to keep going... Had to wrestle with my brain to get going on number 4! I was curious if you know how many people actually started the race? You mentioned 499...is that an accurate number or were you estimating? Looks like only 205 even finished. I was really hoping to go under 7 hours, but just missed it. 7:19. I will get it next year!

What kind of tea would you recommend for the best caffeine kick? I started drinking Green Tea (mostly because of the health benefits), but unfortunately the caffeine part doesn't seem to really work on me LOL.

And I miss our photography class, don't you?!

Life without a car in Tanzania is very fun as well. You get to have many adventures walking, riding, hitching, and any other way you can think to transport yourself. =)

At least you didn't lose your sense of humor in the airport along the way. I'll keep this in mind next month - I'll be crossing eleven time zones (yes, west to east) and will probably wish I was dead for the first couple of days . . .
