I enjoyed your post. I did the Rattler too. My first mountain bike race ever. After lap three I must have been about 20 min ahead of you because I made the cutoff by 17 min and was able to keep going...or HAD to keep going... Had to wrestle with my brain to get going on number 4! I was curious if you know how many people actually started the race? You mentioned 499...is that an accurate number or were you estimating?
